2 Estonian Cooperation Assembly The Estonian Cooperation Assembly (Eesti Koostöö Kogu, EKK) is a cooperation network of NPO`s and NGO`s interested in Estonia’s long-term development; The goals of EKK are to share and coordinate the views of these organisations and on this basis to produce assessments and proposals regarding issues that are central to the future of the country; Programme document (Charter) – Harta 2008 – which is renewed every three years; current focus on four key areas: education, economy and labour force, population and ethnic relations, public health Over 73 organisations are currently involved in the Charter process as the members of the network Monitoring: Estonian Human Development Report, which look at the nation’s development from an international perspective; Action: Charter Proposal (CP on education 13/11/08 and CP on human assets 17/06/09);

3 Charter 2008 and Charter Proposals Focus areas - education - population and ethnic relations - economy and labour force - public health Timeline 2015-2020 and beyond Mainstreaming Quality of Life Charter Proposals –are to be addressed to Riigikogu, President, Government and other relevant governmental bodies and decision makers –First proposal on education 13/11/08 – lifelong learning (LLL) startegy > strategy to be presented by June 2011(partly founded by ESF) –Second proposal on human assets - 17/06/09 > Report on Human Assets July, 2010

4 Monitoring – Estonian Human Development Report (EHDR) Based on UNDP methodology Published since 1995 in Estonia (since 2006 by EKK) Main focus- Quality of Life EHDR 2011 – a joint project with Latvian, Lithuanian and Nordic academia and experts, supported by EC Representations (ERC) in respective countries

5 Initiative – Round Table of Nationalities (RTN) Founded in May, 2010 Objective – to engage Estonian inhabitants of different ethnic backgrounds, mother tongues, and nationalities in discussions on important issues and development prospects Action – focus/issue specific annually Result/input – Report with policy recom- mendations to President, Government and other relevant institutions.
