Official Visit An official visit to a member institution by a PSA is a visit paid for in whole or half by the member of the institution.

Limitations and RequirementsLimitations and Requirements One Visit Limitation: A member institution can pay for one visit to it’s campus for a PSA Number of Official Visits: 5 expense paid visits; Only 1 per institution; Restriction applies regardless of the various sports PSA competes in. First Opportunity to Visit: Opening day of class of prospect’s senior year.

Limitations and Requirements Requirements for Official Visit: There are four vital components that must be met before UVA can provide an official visit to a prospective student-athlete. 1.PSAT, SAT, PLAN or ACT test score presented through a testing agency document on a high school or prep school academic transcript or through the use of an automated voice-system; 1.A high school and (or college) academic transcript; 1.A PSA must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center; 1.A PSA must be placed on UVA’s institutional request list (IRL) with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Limitations and Requirements Non-Qualifier in First Year: A person who is not a qualifier and who is enrolled at a two year institution is not allowed an expense paid visit to a member institution. Prospect must have completed an academic year at a two year college before a paid visit can be administered. Transfer Student: It is acceptable for UVA to provide a transfer student athlete one official visit. Permission must be grated from other institution.

Transportation and Accommodations General Restrictions: Can provide round trip transportation costs for official visit from any location; Prospect must return to original point of departure; Return to athletes home, school, or athletic facility can not exceed round trip expenses from original point of departure. Automobile Transportation: Prospect will be reimbursed by UVA for mileage; Any automobile may be used by prospect, provided it is not used by UVA or any boosters. PSA’s Friends and Relatives: Friends, relatives and legal guardians may receive transportation only when accompanying the student by automobile.

Transportation and Accommodations Transportation and Accommodations :On-Campus Transportation: Coaching staff members or student hosts may use personal vehicles to transport the prospective student-athlete. Visit to Off-Campus Contest: You may not provide a PSA with transportation to attend an off campus contest outside a thirty-mile radius of campus. From Airport: Any member of the UVA’s athletic department staff can provide ground transportation for a prospect, the prospect’s legal guardian and relatives between the institution and the local bus, train station or airport; If transportation is provided from an airport, bus, or train station other than the major airport nearest to UVA, the 48-hour official visit period begins with the initiation of ground transportation by the member of UVA’s athletics' department staff. Transportation Accommodations Visiting Two or More Institutions: Two or more institutions may share the expenses, provided there is no duplication of expenses and the 48-hour visit limitation is observed by each institution. Accommodations on Official Visits: A PSA will be provided lodging and meals as normal students would; Local commercial facilities may be used but at a scale comparable to a normal student, but only within a thirty mile radius of campus; Lodging may not include special accessories that are not available generally to all guests staying in the establishment (jacuzzi).

Entertainment and Complimentary Tickets General Restrictions: Entertainment can be provided for prospect and prospect’s parents and spouse; Only within a thirty-mile radius of campus; Entertainment and contact by booster is prohibited; Relatives or friends of prospect may not be provided entertainment. It is permissible for the institution to pay a PSA’s actual costs for reasonable expenses (meals, lodging) incurred while traveling to and from campus on an official visit.

Entertainment and Complimentary Tickets Complimentary Admissions: 3 complimentary tickets to prospect; Tickets must be issued through a pass list. Exception-Nontraditional Family: Prospect is part of a nontraditional family (divorce, separation); Can provide up to 2 additional tickets to prospect to accommodate parents. UVA will limit entertainment and lodging for the PSA’s official visit to the prospect, the prospect’s parents and spouse. Meals are limited to the prospect, the prospect’s parents, spouse and children.

Unofficial Visit An unofficial visit to UVA is when a PSA finances their own campus visit.

Limitations and Requirements Number Permitted: Prospects can take as many unofficial visits as he/she desires; Visits can occur prior to senior year of high school. Men’s Basketball - No unofficial visits during the month of July Women's Basketball - No unofficial visits during the July evaluation period [July 6-31] General Restrictions: UVA may not pay or provide entertainment during visit; A maximum of three complimentary admissions to a home athletics event. Meals: A prospect may pay the actual cost of meals (or the regular cost of training-table meals). Housing: Prospect may stay in campus dorms with an enrolled student athlete only if the PSA pays the UVA rate for lodging.

Transportation and Accommodations Transportation and Accommodations Transportation: You may provide a prospect with transportation to view practice and competition sites in their sport and other institutional facilities and attend home athletic contest at any local facility. A UVA staff member must accompany the PSA during such a trip. You cannot provide transportation to a meal off-campus during an unofficial visit. Parking: UVA will not arrange special parking for PSA’s while on unofficial visits. Academic Interviews: A UVA staff member may arrange academic interviews for a PSA on an unofficial visit.

Miscellaneous Items Miscellaneous Items “The Corner”: Not on campus so meals may not be provided to prospects on unofficial visits; “The Corner” is not owned by the University so it is considered off-campus. Publicity of Visit: You can not publicize or arrange publicity of the visit of a prospect to campus. Any scrimmaging with current student-athletes cannot be publicized.
