MITOC Winter School 2010 IntroductionIntroduction Did the sun really just set at 415p again? Sure did, but fear not. Winter school is here to equip you with a skill set that will allow you to enjoy the outdoors during winter and combat the seasonal blues. Trips are offered for participants of a variety of backgrounds, and activities include: Did the sun really just set at 415p again? Sure did, but fear not. Trips are offered for participants of a variety of backgrounds, and activities include: Hiking - Ice Climbing - Cross Country Skiing - Camping - Snowshoeing - Sledding - Backcountry Skiing - Orienteering - Snow shelters

MITOC Winter School 2010 FormatFormat Two evening lectures per week Tu & Th, 7:00p - 9:00p, (35-225) Free! Optional “recitations” on both Saturday and Sunday of every weekend to various New England locations. Tuesdays: trip announcements for coming weekend Wednesdays: trip signup sheets posted online Thursdays: mandatory trip meetings with leaders after lecture, gear rental Some fees apply Two evening lectures per week Tu & Th, 7:00p - 9:00p, (35-225) Free! MITOC Winter School 2010 FeesFees We try to make this as cheap as possible! One time: MITOC membership: $10 Personal clothing: Varies a lot! At least $100, starting from scratch Per Trip: Trip Fee (WMNF fees, group gear, etc): $3 Gas money: $15-20 round trip for most NH locations (pay to driver directly, less for closer trips) Cabin Fees: ($5/night, if you stay there) Gear rental: $5-$20, depends on trip and what you need We try to make this as cheap as possible! MITOC Winter School 2010 Our background WS Lecturers and Trip Leaders are volunteers MITOC members who love the outdoors and enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with others Leaders have demonstrated practical knowledge of skills, outdoor leadership, and safety/good judgment to the MITOC Winter Safety Committee Every trip has a person certified in Wilderness First Aid or better. We are NOT professional guides or certified instructors. WS Lecturers and Trip Leaders are volunteers MITOC members who love the outdoors and enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with others Leaders have demonstrated practical knowledge of skills, outdoor leadership, and safety/good judgment to the MITOC Winter Safety Committee Every trip has a person certified in Wilderness First Aid or better.
