A tube used to drain or inject fluid through a body opening. Straight catheter – drains the bladder and is removed Indwelling catheter – F/C, Foley Catheter, retention catheter. Left in the bladder. Urine drains continuously. Inserted by MD, RN or LPN. Sterile technique
