Take care of the skin Healthy skin normal PH between 4.3 and 5.9 Microorganisms on the skin can effect the PH Additionally, prolonged contact with fluid, can increase the permeability of the skin Fecal enzymes damage the epidermis and be very caustic to the skin Briefs and pad help retain moisture and heat

Remember: ONLY use ONE air flow pad Greatly decreases flow of air causing diminished offloading of bed Be the patients advocate- don’t use the pads and briefs unless the patient REALLY needs it
