poochpress JANUARY 2014 2013 has brought highs and lows to All Dogs Matter. On the positive side it seems more people are wanting to rehome rescue dogs and therefore the awareness in this area has improved greatly. Many wonderful people are giving rescue dogs a second chance, providing them with the love and security they deserve. But we still receive dozens of calls a week from people looking to rehome their dogs after making a rushed and thoughtless purchase via the internet or ‘friends’. All Dogs Matter rehomed nearly 300 dogs last year. Out of these, 27% of these were Staffies or Staffie crosses (who were all neutered and micro chipped before being rehomed). A third of these dogs were handed in from private homes and the rest from local pounds where they would have been destroyed, had we not intervened and taken them in. Thankfully, we have noticed a decrease in SBT puppies coming into the rescue and a decrease in dogs coming in that have been used for dog fighting. But the number of SBT/SBT crosses (aged between 1 – 4 years) coming in is still on the rise. They have probably had at least 2 previous homes, being passed around numerous times before coming into our care. These dogs crave stability and we try our best to get as many of our dogs into foster homes over kennels until we find them their forever homes so that they get the best fresh start in life! With your continued help and support we will be able to rescue and rehome even more dogs in and around Greater London! FOSTERING We are always looking for people to foster dogs. The kennel environment is can be very stressful and the dogs benefit greatly from being in a loving foster home. Please contact All Dogs Matter if you are interested in fostering or adopting a dog with All Dogs Matter. These wonderful people have enabled us to save so many more dogs and give them a safe and loving space until their new home is found. Merci! Les Nereides Mika is a petite 5 year old Akita, who was picked up as a stray in August last year in terrible condition. She is now looking lovely, with an even lovelier temperament to match! We are desperate to get her out of kennels and into a loving home after all this time, whether it be on foster or a permanent basis. She is a wonderful walking companion and very affectionate. Please do not overlook this sweet girl! Contact the office for more info.
