1 Sharing Stories, Becoming Storytellers

2 Origins of The Bayview School Family Literacy Day Hotline Our school parent council asked me to set up a kind of "Speaker's Corner" in the school where children and families could record a message about their favorite books. I took it one step further and set up a free voicemail number at 705 540 7023 (a local number), which forwards an mp3 of the messages to my email. http://familyliteracy.edublogs.org

3 How Does this Project Promote Literacy and Engage Our Community? Reviews of favorite stories in their own voices. The website has become a collection of stories which are important to children, teachers and families in our school community. The resource is also available to others worldwide.
