Making Sense of Your PSAT Scores
2
1.You should have already marked your answers in your PSAT test booklet. Write down your assigned question numbers.
3
Convert Your Score: 2. Make your 2-digit PSAT scores comparable to the 3-digit SAT scores: – Find your PSAT Critical Reading Score – Find your PSAT Math Score – Add a 0 to the end of each score 3. Add your 3-digit Critical Reading score to your 3-digit Math score, for a TOTAL score.
4
Bright Futures Requirements: 4. You need a combined critical reading and math score of: A. 1270 for $3,780 per year tuition scholarship – how much is that for 4 years? B. 970 for $2850 tuition scholarship – how much is that for 4 years? – OR C. 440 Critical Reading and 440 Math for Vocational Gold Seal -- $2850 a year for 90 hours -- If you take 15 hours a semester and attend 2 semesters a year, how much scholarship money are you eligible for and for how long?
5
5. Add a zero to your Writing score. 6. Add your Writing score to your Critical Reading and Math scores
6
So how do your scores measure up? On the following slides, you will find the scores for the Middle 50% of students that were accepted to state universities in Florida last year.
7
About the Scores: One way to think of these Middle Range scores is to look at the bottom score for each university and assume that approximately 75% of the students who got accepted last year had this score or better.
8
THE SCORES: FAMU: 1350 (Critical Reading, Math, and Writing) FSU: 1730 – 1960 (Critical Reading, Math, and Writing) UCF: 1150 – 1290 (Critical Reading and Math) UF: 1930 – 2060 (Critical Reading and Math) Note that some schools used Math and Critical Reading and Writing 7. Which of the above universities are you interested in? Are you in the 50% range?
9
