The National picture. National Changes To Examinations. External / National Measuring Of Progress. Assessment & Reporting. Key Stage 3 Progress Reports (Current). Key Stage 4 Progress Reports.
3
The National Picture Currently - Key Stage 2 SATS. If absent, level 5 is assumed. - Secondary schools are free to determine internal KS3 assessment measures. We have retained levels for Years 7-9 this year. - - Schools are free to access GCSE/iGCSE,equivalent qualifications. Some constraints for performance tables.
4
National Changes To Exams Already - No modular exams. - First entry counts for schools, not pupils. - All non GCSEs are weighted as equivalent to 1 GCSE. -Ebac certificate recognises a certain range of qualifications. - No longer legally required to report KS3 to DfE. - Changes to specific exams, eg English Speaking and Listening. Still to come - New system for monitoring progress at KS2 – no SATS. - Current Year 9 will sit GCSE (or equivalencies) in all subjects EXCEPT English and Maths, where they will sit the NEW GCSE. - Current Year 8 will sit the new GCSE, graded 1-9, in all subjects. - Controlled Assessment being phased out in most subjects. We are revising how we measure progress throughout the school.
5
National Measuring of Pupils’ Progress Both the school and individual pupils’ progress is externally measured from their English and Maths KS2 outcomes. We use this principle to set initial targets for pupils, whilst also recognising personal circumstances – for example ‘late bloomers’.
