2 Key Stage 3 Each year KS3 students study 6 weeks of Food Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life. Students understand and apply the principles of nutrition and health. They cook a repertoire of predominantly savoury dishes and learn to adapt their own recipes so that they are able to feed themselves a healthy and varied diet.

3 Year 7 Foods for Packed Meals

4 Year 8 Seasonal Soups and Bakes

5 Year 9 Celebrating Society

6 Key Stage 4 Students who choose to study Food Technology will follow an AQA GCSE course They will undertake regular practical work with Controlled Assessments in Year 11 Specifically candidates will actively: Develop as effective and independent candidates Analyse existing food products and explore ways in which aesthetic, economic, environmental, ethical and cultural dimensions interact to shape the making of food products Be involved in making decisions, consider food sustainability and combine cooking skills with knowledge and understanding in order to design and make quality food products within a budget Develop decision-making skills through individual and collaborative working

7 Year 10 Students undertake regular practical work

8 Year 11 Students develop a final theme with Controlled Assessments
