1. A web based lesson on main idea, cause and effect

2.  In today’s lesson we will be researching dinosaurs. We will utilize the internet in our research, specifically www.enchantedlearning.com www.enchantedlearning.com  We will be reading about different kinds of dinosaurs, exploring the website, reading for main idea and examples of cause and effect.

3.  First lets talk about main idea.  What is the main idea? ◦ The main idea is the main reason the story was written. Or why did the author write the story or paper.

4.  What is a cause and effect?  A cause is WHY something happens.  An effect is WHAT happens. As you read be a detective. See if you can figure out why something happens and what happens.  What are some examples of cause and effect?

5.  Get out your Macbooks.  Open the internet and go to this website.  www.enchantedlearning.com

7.  Scroll down and click on the word dinosaurs on the left side.  Lets look at the T-Rex first! ◦ Click on the underlined T-Rex to take to the next page.

8.  Now that we have read and explored this page about T- Rex,  What is the main idea?  Can you find think of or find any cause and effects? T-Rex had long strong legs, allowed them to run fast. T-Rex had big sharp teeth, able to attack and eat meat.
