Let’s Talk about MOSES

Who was Moses? 1. His Parents: Amram and Jochebed 2. What is the meaning of his name? Drawn from the waters…or Taken out of the waters… 3. Where was he born? In Egypt In Egypt 4. His occupation? He was the Prince of Egypt, Shepherd, Prophet. 4. Key words in his life? 4. Key words in his life? BY FAITH.

Hebrews 11:23-29… “23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command. 24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward. 27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them. 29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

THE MAN WHO WAS GOD’S FRIEND… (The Prophet of God) From the beginning of existence of the human kind, we have seen that God has always selected during different times different men to be close to him or someone to whom He could pass information to, for the rest of the people. That was the case of: Adam… Enoch… Abraham… Isaac… Jacob… Joseph.

Exodus 33:11… “11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle. The relationship that existed between God and Moses was so beautiful, that even when he died God took charge of His burial. The relationship that existed between God and Moses was so beautiful, that even when he died God took charge of His burial.

Deuteronomy 34:5-12… “5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. 6 And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day. 7 Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished. 8 And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days. So the days of weeping and mourning for Moses ended. 9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses. 10 But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, 11 in all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, 12 and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel.

THE LIFE OF MOSES…(Prophet of God) Moses lived a total of 120 years that can be divided into three sections: The First 40 years: From birth until the flight into Midian. As Pharaoh’s son, Moses learned how to be SOMEBODY… Lives in Pharaoh’s palace as a real son of the king. Killed an Egyptian for defending a fellow Jew that was being treated unfairly. Flees from Pharaoh Exodus. 2:11-15 Acts 7:30

THE LIFE OF MOSES…(Prophet of God) Moses lived a total of 120 years that can be divided into three sections: The Second 40 years: From the flight into Midian to the Exodus. In desert places he learned how to become NOBODY… Exodus 3:1-4… “1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”4 So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

THE LIFE OF MOSES…(Prophet of God) Moses lived a total of 120 years that can be divided into three sections: The Third 40 years: From the Exodus to his own Exodus. As the leader of God’s Hosts he learned that GOD WAS EVERYBODY… Numbers 14:8-11… “8 If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’9 Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” 10 And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.

THE FAITH OF MOSES (Prophet of God). Showing faith among a perverse and crooked generation requires faith, but not only faith but I should say GREAT FAITH. Moses is recognized by his great faith. Moses is in the Bible records because of his great faith, and Moses will be remembered by his great faith. We the Christians are commanded to live for and by faith. 2 Corinthians 5:7… “7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. The people that he brought out of Egypt were always living by sight but Moses was always under the Word of the Lord, He was always living by faith…what about us? Are we like Moses or like the people? Do we trust in the Lord and His Word?

· Moses believed by faith that the one talking in the burning bush was the Lord God. (Exo. 3:1- 4:17) · Moses also believed the Word of God when He said: Go and tell Pharaoh; “That Says the Lord”: "Let my people go!" (Exodus. 5:1-12:42) · Moses also believed the Word of God when He said: Go and tell Pharaoh; “That Says the Lord”: "Let my people go!" (Exodus. 5:1-12:42) · He received a Law that would help Israel to be closer to God, that Law now days we call: The law of Moses (Exodus. 20-31) Moses was very important in God’s plan in order to bring Jesus unto the World; Moses is a type of Christ in many aspects let’s see some so that we can understand the relationship between both.

MOSES AND LORD JESUS. Hebrews 3:5, 6… And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. There are many similarities between both. For example: Deuteronomy 18:18-19… “18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.

Both were preserved from the perils of their infancy. Exo.2:2; Matt 2:14. Both were tempted but had mastered over evil. Exo.7: 11; Matt.4: 1. Both knew what it was to fast for 40 days. Exo.34:28; Matt.4:2. Both had powers to control the sea. Exo 14:21; Matt 8:26. Both Fed a multitude. Exo 16:26; Matt 14:20-21. Both had a radiant face. Exo 34:35; Matt 17:2. Both endured murmuring. Exo 15:24; Mark 7:2

Both were discredited at home. Num 12:1; John 7:5. Both were mighty intercessors. Exo 32:32; John 17. Both spoke the oracles of God. Deut 18:18; John 7:46. Both had seventy helpers. Num 11:16, 17; Luke 10:1. Both established memorials. Exo 12:14; Luke 22:19. Both reappeared after death Matt 17:3; Acts 1:3. Jesus and Moses… But JESUS IS THE LORD

Moses is waiting for the final day until God decides to send His Only Begotten Son to Judge the world. In the meantime we the Christians can say that Moses is in heaven (Hades) the place of comfort. But why do we say that? Well for the following reasons: He appeared with Lord Jesus…That means that HE LIVES…Matt 17:3. God spoke of Moses as being alive and not dead. Luke 20:37… God buried him even when Satan was trying to take his body. Jude 9.

God sees and responds to the trials of His people. He was with Moses and helped him have the victory over his enemies. In the same manner if we trust in him, He will help us to re-gain the victory. Romans 8:31… “31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? God delivers us from the bondage of sin. Israel came out Egypt by the Mighty Hand of the Lord, now we are rescued from the power of Sin by the Mighty Blood of His Son Jesus. 1 John 1:7… “7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

God can and will use every person of faith. Moses obtained victory not because he was an excellent man but because BY FAITH HE TRUSTED IN GOD. God can use us in the same manner only if we show some faith, maybe not like Moses but our own faith. Hebrews 11:6… “6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him. Perseverance is key to obtaining God's continuing approval. Even though the people were forcing Moses to give up, he did not heed their provocation but finished until the end. In the same way we need to be faithful until the end if we want to receive the same honor that Moses received. Matt 24:13… “13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

Man must hear and heed the law of God. The Lord told Moses: Hebrews 8:5… “5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” We have been warned in the same manner not to trespass the Law of God but to obey everything that is written. · God is not a respecter of persons. · Successful leaders of God's people are led by God. Are we obeying the Lord like His servant Moses?

Can we imitate Moses in order to please God? We have the last word…
