Directions – Guess the Definition You will be given two definitions for each word. One will be the true definition, and one will be a phony definition. Your job will be to choose the definition that you think is correct. I will give you a white board… If you think Choice 1 is correct, write a number one on the white board If you think Choice 2 is correct, write a number two on the white board

apparently Choice 1 Seemingly; with the appearance of Choice 2 Advice given to you by a parent

apparently Part of Speech: Adverb Definition: Seemingly; with the appearance of; evidently Example: Something is apparent when it is clearly visible and understood/obvious * Pizza Hut apparently has pizza

fixtures Choice 1 Items put in place to stay Choice 2 Something used to temporally hold an item in place

fixtures Part of Speech: Noun Definition: Thing/items put in place to stay. Example: Light fixtures

survive Choice 1 To serve others Choice 2 To continue to exist; remain; to continue to live

incident Choice 1 Something that happens; event Choice 2 Only partly in existence, imperfectly formed

Now that you have seen the words and definitions… At your tables you will find a stack of words and definitions You will find our vocabulary words, and their definitions. You will also find some phony definitions- so be careful! Match the word with its definition Glue the words/definitions into your journal. After you glue each word and definition draw a picture to represent the word so you can remember it!
