10 Common Core State Standards Strands in English Language Arts Reading –Reading text of increasing complexity to develop critical analysis skills based on evidence. Writing –Write narrative, informational, and argumentative texts supported by evidence. Speaking and Listening –Developing skills to participate in academic discussions and present new learning. Language – Conventions, knowledge of language, and vocabulary extending across reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

22 Who Wants to be a Millionaire? How many print concepts is your child expected to know by the end of the year? How high is your child expected to count to by 1’s and 10’s by the end of the year? How many sight words does your child need to know by the end of the year? True or False, your child needs to know 2-dimensional AND 3- dimensional shapes. Your child is expected to know 26 letters and letter sounds by the end of what quarter? What does it mean to be proactive? How can you help your child at home? If you have questions about common core, where can you find answers? In Math by the end of the year, your student is expected to be able to add and subtract within what number? True or false, does your child need to spell every word correctly in their writing?
