Identify Your Interests What do I do really well? What areas am I most competent? What things do I find most enjoyable or rewarding? What do people often compliment me on? What have been my greatest accomplishments? What unique abilities and personal traits made those accomplishments possible?

Need versus Want A need is something that you must have in order to survive A want is a thing that you’d like to have, but that is not necessary What are your top 2 needs? What are your top 2 wants? In 10 years, will they be the same?

Identify Your Skills A skill is the ability to do something that you have acquired through training or experience If you have an ability to do something, you’re likely to want to become skilled in it

Identify Your Values The organization you work for–should reflect your values and beliefs –Leaders –Goals –Accomplishments –Employees Otherwise, you’ll be unhappy What values are important to you?
