How did we get here? 11 CityGIS 3.X This is the ArcGIS Desktop app staff has used for several years. GIS has modified it over the years by adding new “themes”, data, and tools.

14 SITE PROFILER… CityGIS converted to focused map services accessed over the web. Land Records: Some basic land records information pertaining to the Site and a button to launch into the detailed Land Records app for much more information.

15 Cityworks Server… Web-based application that works with ArcGIS Server

16 GIS in Encinitas is used in the following ways by City staff To help with project reviews and plan checks To assist with cost estimates and grant proposals for future city projects To work with customers at the front counter To assist with city projects, such as master plan updates To investigate complaints and service requests from the public To track work done and proactively maintain city assets and infrastructure To assist development applicants at Staff Advisory Committee SAC meetings

17 GIS in Encinitas is used in the following ways by the Public … On the City’s website via interactive GIS web maps To look up zoning information To report problems to the City (potholes, grafitti, etc.) To look up services, schools, and nearby amenities Coming Soon! 18 What’s Next? Cloud-based GIS Location-based CRM A new permitting system

How could we make our GIS program even better? 19 Willingness of staff to be more involved in the applications they use ‘Technical’ liaison / business analyst in every Department Division More informed and proactive upper management support Assistance from Departments in the form of funding or resources Departmental ownership for projects they’d like to see implemented Better collaboration/communication (keeping us in the loop) Enforcement of our role as ‘data experts’ An understanding that applications require consistent support and maintenance (e.g. resources) More emphasis and time spent on data quality An on-going training plan for all staff
