2. Machu Picchu is in Cusco Region Peru. Peru is located in South America. Machu Picchu is located above the clouds on a mountain. Machu Picchu really means ‘old mountain’.

3. The Emperor built it in1460 and it lasted till 1470 because the Spanish had defeated him and the city was lost. But then it was found in 1911 by Hiram Bingham.

4. Machu Picchu was built by the Emperor Pachacutec.

5. It was made originally out of dry stone walls. The roofs were made out of granite and thatch so the rain did not seep through.

6. Machu Picchu was made out of granite and stone. The houses were made out of stone and the roof was made out of granite so it can protect the people inside if it rained hard.

7. Machu Picchu was made because the people had no place to live so they built Machu Picchu.
