Who are we? Kaleidoscope Enterprise Ltd has been a membership- based organisation (since 1997), a registered charity (2005) and is also a limited company (2011). Formerly, the Welwyn Hatfield Ethnic Minority Group it changed its name in 2011 to align itself with its best known activity: the Kaleidoscope Festival. 7

The Charity offers support to and raising awareness of individuals and community groups, particularly in Equality concerning race, ethnicity, culture and discrimination. 8

Our charitable objects are chiefly but not exclusively for the benefit of ethnic minority individuals and communities in Welwyn Hatfield and neighbouring areas. Our vision is one of empowered, inclusive communities, where Minority Ethnic (BME) people 9

What do we do? Our mission delivered through our strategic representation, public and community events, training workshops, mentoring programmes and cultural arts development work. 10

We have just come to the end of the third phase of our Hertfordshire County Council funded Reaching Up Community Mentoring service for young people and parents 11

However, we are starting a new phase of mentoring via two small EU projects that start September 2013 upto July 2015. 12

Both will focus on developing processes to support the practitioner i.e. mentor to work with “disadvantaged” adults one-to-one including of course BME adults. We are currently recruiting for volunteer mentors to participate in either or both projects. 13

Similar to the EU projects, through the projects manager, Kaleidoscope can offer skills and experience on developing and running community-based mentoring programmes and also access to an international project development group. Partnership working: What can we offer? 14
