6 At home, students complete a state project to display information they have learned about their state. Students will then present their project to their classmates and to parents at a learning fair.  Float  Song  Presentation board  Brochure  Game  Technology/video presentation

8  Abraham Lincoln Report  Famous Person Report

9 Illinois Famous Person Reports Use the Same Format as the Lincoln Report

10 Mr. Lincoln Comes to Tell Us Tales of His Early and Adult Life

11 Each Student Selects a Famous Person to Research

12  The project is done in first person and orally presented  Students become the person they researched by dressing in costume

13 $ Checkbook $ Partnerships $ Advertising $ Money Market $ Teachers’ Store

14 Students write checks and balance checkbooks with real-world situations.

15 Students form companies and manufacture a product to sell at the Money Market.

16 Posters containing company names, logos and a picture of the product are created by students.

17 The students buy and sell their products at the Money Market.

18 Students spend company profits at the Teachers’ Store.

22 Students do hands-on exploration with six simple machines.

23 Students investigate the properties of rocks. They also observe and study calcite and granite.

24 Unknown powders are tested, fingerprinting is explored and secret pen pals are matched...

25 while solving the mystery in a selected novel.

26 Students study food chains with a focus on owls and anoles.

27 We will be using the Second Step program to teach critical social skills.

28 Students work in teams during reading incentive contests.

29 Individual assignment books are completed on a daily basis.
