Rock are EVERYWHERE! Technically speaking, they are… Solid Naturally occurring Made of minerals or mineral type materials

Some are made of just one kind of mineral: Pyrite (aka Fool’s Gold) Quartz Some are made of several different kinds of minerals: Granite

Rocks are put into 3 different groups: Igneous Metamorphic Sedimentary

Rocks are always changing Each type of rock can change into another type Example: Igneous can become Metamorphic Rocks change with time, heat, and pressure

The rock cycle describes the process by which rocks change with heat and pressure The arrows show how each type of rock changes and what it changes into The rock cycle is always happening and never stops
