Root Cause Issue Rocky Mountain Institute Study –Energy cost 2 cents per kilo-watt hour A LONG TIME AGO –Most systems today optimized around this cost –This includes engineering handbooks for traffic and all civil infrastructure; and mechanical engineering!!! –This is a major find and this has not been corrected –This is a ROOT CAUSE of the problems we face today! –All the science and engineering professional are optimizing systems using charts that are not developed with todays energy costs! –Some engineers are developing there own charts using Life Cycle Analysis with the current costs of energy and creating sustainable designs

Solution RECOMMENDED ACTION –Check with City of San Diego, Los Angeles and Riverside and San Bernadino and Tia Juana Mexico –Engineering charts to DESIGN for right energy cost! –Include GREEN HOUSE GAS (CO2(e)) Footprint –Include cost of other air, water and soil pollution in the Life Cycle Assessment Cost Analysis –Show how traffic lessens the economy –Show how excessive home with no jobs and quaility of life is a BAD economic model! –Present this information and correct this situation with real data – is available and has been!

6. New Regional Concept Rocky Mountain Institute –Using correct energy costs –The current engineering models work for cities up to 200,000 people in size –And, with large cities the cost to pump both drinking water and sewage does not justify the existing designs
