Federal Energy Management Program BLM Assessment of RE Power Potential on Western US Lands BLM/NREL Partnership formed Aug 2001 –Lee Otteni, RE Program Mgr – WO Detail –Mike Kirby, Assoc Director, NSTC NREL tasked to conduct RE assessment to identify high potential for CSP, PV, Wind, Biomass, and Geothermal in Western US- Jan 02 FEMP provides NREL funding for BLM effort BLM/NREL use GIS to identify BLM Planning units for high potential for RE power production NREL/BLM/Industry develop screening criteria
