SCIENTIFIC METHOD THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD IS A SERIES OF STEPS USED TO SOLVE PROBLEMS. A series of steps used to solve problems.

PROBLEM WE MUST WORK TO FIND A SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM. The question that you have and want to find a solution for.

HYPOTHESIS IN OUR HYPOTHESIS, WE MADE AN EDUCATED GUESS ON HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. An If…then… statement that is an educated guess of how to solve the problem.

PROCEDURES WHEN WE FOLLOW OUR PROCEDURES, WE COMPLETE THE STEPS OF OUR EXPERIMENT. The steps to complete an experiment or process.

DATA WE COLLECTED DATA TO RECORD AND USED IT TO DRAW OUR CONCLUSIONS. Information collected through observations during an experiment or process.

CONCLUSION IN OUR CONCLUSION, WE USED THE DATA TO DESCRIBE WHAT WE LEARNED BY EXPERIMENTING. The final step of the scientific method where you use data to tell what happened and what was learned by doing the experiment.

UNITARY GOVERNMENT THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT HOLDS ALL THE POWER IN AN UNITARY GOVERNMENT. A government system where power rests with the central (national) government.

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT OUR CENTRAL GOVERNMENT IS IN WASHINGTON, D.C. A nation’s or state’s government that rules over larger populations of people.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TEND TO BE SMALLER GOVERNMENTS THAT ARE CLOSER TO HOME. A state, county, or city government that typically shares power with a central government.

CONFEDERATION THE STATES WERE ALLOWED TO GOVERN THEMSELVES SEPARATELY ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION. A government system in which smaller, local governments hold more power than the central government.

FEDERATION OUR NATIONAL GOVERNMENT SHARES POWER WITH OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN THE U.S.’S FEDERATION. A government system in which power is shared between the central and local governments.

GOVERNMENTAL POWER GOVERNMENTAL POWERS ARE SEPARATED TO WHAT OUR NATIONAL AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CARING FOR ITS CITIZENS. The duties and responsibilities to rule and care for ones citizens.

PHYSICAL MAP LANDFORMS AND MAJOR BODIES OF WATER ARE LABELED ON A PHYSICAL MAP. A map that shows landforms, physical features, and bodies of water.
