Security and Shelter The Library offers a cozy corner for alone time, with warm colors and a Dr. Suess theme.
3
Social Contact The desks are set up in clusters, to help with group work. Items are shared on the table except for student crayon boxes that have their scissors and glue in them.
4
Social Contact There are multiple ways in which Ms. Jones has set her classroom up in which she can have different amounts of social contacts with students, whether it is one on one, small group, or whole group.
5
Symbolic Identification Here you see a behavior chart to help the students visualize what behavior they are at. Beside that you can also see the schedule for the day. Their resource changes every day so it’s a good visual for them to be able to see what is happening that day. You can also see the word wall, that helps the kids see the words that have been added that week, and if they need help spelling anything it is there in front of them
6
Task Instrumentality Ms. Jones has one of the most organized classrooms I have ever seen. Everything has a place, and that helps the flow of her classroom greatly. Everything is labeled, and the children can see exactly where to put items back.
7
Pleasure The classroom is full of warmth, and is incredibly welcoming. The Dr. Suess theme makes the entire room happy and familiar for all that enter.
8
Growth Whenever a child completes a task before others, they are allowed to go to the library, get something out of their mailbox to work on, or pick out an activity out of the back of their chair. There is always something for them to do, so that there isn’t boredom.
