Post Operative Dressing: Post operative dressing helps in preventing injury, injection and fall of dust Post Operative Care

Preparation should be done in a clean room Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water Wipe them with a clean towel Spread a clean bed cover on a mat and sit comfortably Preparation of post operative

Material required: Distilled water Clean cotton A clean round basin Wipers

Pour distilled water into the basin Immerse clean pieces of cotton in the water Take a small round ball of cotton from water (marble size) Roll it in between palms in lengthwise direction to prepare a clean wiper Method

Pad preparation Take the guaze piece from the pack and spread it. Cut the guaze into a equal pieces, in size Unroll cotton and cut it to the size of each guaze piece Wrap cotton in between two guaze pieces. Now cut it into four rectangular pieces (about the size of your printer finger) From one roll of cotton 120 cotton bands could be prepared

Preparation of Bandage Material Required: Bandage Roll Scissors

Method Take a roll of bandage and fold it at forearm measurements Now trim the ends of the bandage Make a cut to fit the ear keep one end of bandage long and other short

Tying Pad and Bandage Pad and Bandage is applied to: Prevent movement of eyelids to assist in healing of corneal abrasion Post operative

Method Stand in front of the patient Ask the patient to close the eyes gently Place a pad and shield over the affected eye Apply a single piece of tape at an oblique angle over the pad At least 6-7 cm of tape should be in contact with skin

Take the bandage, start with a turn round the cheek on the affected side Place the patients ear through the hole in the bandage Take the bandage one round the head and tie it in front on the forehead It should be tied just tight enough to secure the pad properly

Do’s Explain the procedure to the patient and gain the co-operation from the patient Hand washing should be done prior to and after applying bandage

Don’t Don’t apply wet bandage Don’t use the unsterile dressing Don’t apply too tight or too loose bandage Don’t cover other eye with the bandage
