7. 7 Firmware version (Menu Star, Star, Pound, then 1)

8. 8 –The serial label under the battery or on the back of the base station will show firmware versions but should not always be trusted. –Press Menu, Star, Star, Pound. –Then choose the base number. For 1x, choose “10” or the secondary base ID if applicable. For PRO, choose “00” or the secondary base ID if applicable. –There is DSP version and MCU versions. Scroll down via the arrow up/down to see all version of handset and base. If the base version shows “0.00” on 1x “No BS Ver” on PRO, you did not link to the base. 14. 14 Auto Hang-up (Line Reversal Detection)

15. 15 –Also known as “line reversal detection”, if a line reversal signal is received on the line, the handset will automatically end the call. Normally the handset user must press “END” to end the call. If the caller doesn’t do this, the line will remain off hook. –There is a risk of erroneously detecting this signal and causing the call to be dropped. Therefore, default is OFF. –Most if not all analog cordless phones do not auto hang up for this reason. Menu star, star, pound, base #, option 4. Auto Hang-up Feature

18. 18 The “BER” Test

19. 19 BER (Bit Error Rate) can be a troubleshooting tool. –To get to the BER screen, press Menu, star, pound, pound, star, then “00” for base (PRO) (“10” for 1x), and then press 1 for base to HS test or 2 for HS to HS test. –This test can measures how many bits are lost. Within 50 ft. or less from the base with no obstructions bit loss should be zero. If abnormally high, there may be a problem with either the handset or base. If you have more than one handset, try the other to see where the problem follows to find the bad unit. Other more rare causes could be very close in signal strength interference or multipath interference. –Bit error rate will range from 0 to 16,000. The number on the right (3 digits) range from 0 to 160. Above 160 or *****/*** means a poor or lost connection. –Do not use this for range testing. BER TEST (1x and PRO)

21. 21 Default is “Normal”, which is 902-928MHz Frequency “Hi” is 915-928MHz and “Low” is 902-915MHz To change frequency go to Menu, star, pound, pound, star, then option #6 (base freq.) first, then #5 (HS freq.) after. –Go to B Freq first. 27. 27 Looks for other nearby base stations or handsets and follows the same TX/RX timing to reduce interference. –Requires that the base stations are configured as “multi-base”. –By default this feature is off. –When on, adds slight delay to access dial tone Usually not necessary unless you are using three or more base stations in the same coverage area. Not necessary unless you see poor range or dropped calls/reacquiring, or system instability. Many times even when base stations are less than 30 feet apart, there are no issues. Not available with the 1x model. Below v1.82 not available, v1.82 default = on, v1.85 = default off, v 1.90 or higher default “on” (with improved seek time). Would be used for to choose using an additional line (1x) or for extended range (either 1x or PRO). –What this does is allow you to choose which base to use for outbound dialing. Our system always tries to connect to the last base used even if the signal is poor. This is a limitation so you will need to choose the correct base for outbound calls. –For inbound calls, the stronger signal of the two bases wins to the handset, so base select is needed just for the concern of outbound base signal and choice. 1x & PRO “Base Select” Feature for Multi-base applications

34. 34 The RF connectors, coax, and AK10L / AK20L antenna kit

35. 35 –The coax is LMR-400. Is 50 ohm coax. Has 4db loss per 100 feet at 900MHz. Is.400 inch in diameter and is semi-rigid. It is not plenum rated. Reverse Thread TNC male connector on base side. This means the base station has a reverse thread TNC female. Reverse Thread Type N male connector on antenna side. The antenna has a reverse thread Type N female. AK10L, AK means antenna kit, and 10 stands for 10 meters of cable (33 feet), and L is for low loss. AK20L = 66 feet. Coax and Connectors

36. 36 –The antenna is a 6dbi 5/8 wave omni-directional antenna. Is 50 ohms. Has a reverse thread Type N female connector. The antenna is approximately 24 inches tall and ground radials make it about 10 inches wide. Mounts via a flat surface or U-bolt with mast diameter from 1.00 to 2.00 inches. Do not mount the antenna less than 3 feet from other metal objects to avoid changing the radiation pattern of the signal. The Antenna

37. 37 –The near proprietary reverse thread connectors are nearly impossible to find in the market. Contact us directly. –The FCC limits db gain of omni-directional applications to 6dbi (what we use). Some may choose based on application to use a higher gain semi or highly directional antenna based on application. Cut off the antenna end connector and install your own that matches the custom antenna. You are responsible for maintaining the FCC rules and regulations! Different Antenna?

38. 38 –Available for purchase is a barrel connector or the LPK (lightning protection kit). –Source LMR-400 coax and put connectors on yourself. The special reverse connectors are available for purchase. –Sometimes we will have cable only 10 meter or 20 meter return stock available. –Currently a dealer offers custom cable at any length with connectors (inquire within).
