Cooking with Fractions/ Jelly By Mietta Vampatella

How we use Fractions in Cooking When you cook you have to follow a recipe. You have to measure out the ingredients using fractions and whole numbers e.g. ½, ¼, 1, 5 etc. etc. This PowerPoint is about how our group measured ingredients to make jelly!

Recipe for Jelly/ Including Fractions In class we had to write down the recipe then double the measurements(the fractions) we also had to see what the recipe would be multiplied by 100( see page 5) Here is the recipe for the jelly: 1. Empty the box of jelly crystals into bowl 2. Add 250ml of boiling water 3. Stir and dissolve well 4. Add 200ml of cold water 5. Put into a mould and refrigerate until firm

Doubled Recipe Here is the doubled recipe: 1. Empty two boxes of jelly crystals into bowl 2. Add 500ml of boiling water 3. Stir and dissolve well 4. Add 400ml cold water 5. Put into a mould and refrigerate until firm

x100 If 100 people were coming to lunch today, how would you need to adjust your recipe. Here is my working out: 4x20= 80 4x25=100 You have to multiply the ingredients by 25. Here is the measurements of the ingredients: 25 packets of jelly 6250ml of boiling water or 6.25 litres 5,000ml of cold water or 5 litres
