Health Care and Long-term Care Career Promotion Grants GOAL: Developing intergenerational programs to encourage middle and high school students to work and volunteer in health care and long-term care settings

Health Care and Long-term Care Career Promotion Grants Detroit Lakes Public Schools received a $15,000 grant from the MDE and MDH Detroit Lakes Public Schools received a $5,000 companion grant from West Central Initiative

DL Grant Scope and Purpose zDevelop a comprehensive health careers exploration program by creating a K-12 system of curricula, programs, and activities through increased collaboration and cooperation between local schools, MSCTC, and several area healthcare and long-term care providers

Project Outcomes Provide career awareness, career exploration, and career experience for students K-12 by expanding work-based learning opportunities. Field trips Classroom Speakers Volunteerism Job Shadowing Internships

Project Outcomes Implement a Two-Day Workshop Provide current labor market information and demographics Provide tours of health care providers Examine existing curriculum to identify weaknesses and strengths Make appropriate curriculum connections to integrate new information
