Life Cycle of a butterfly egg larva (Caterpillar) pupa adult

Egg A adult butterfly laid the Egg at the right plant. Back

Larva Each egg hatches into a larva.the larva is the young of an insect. The larva of a butterfly has a special name. it called a caterpillar. looks look like a tiny wriggly worm and is very different from the adult butterfly. Back

Pupa Soon it is about time for the caterpillar to enter the next stage of the life cycle. It starts to move more slowly. It stops feeding. Then it fastens itself to a leaf or twig and spins a case around itself. Back

Adult When the case finally breaks open, a beautiful butterfly comes out of it. The butterfly spreads its wings to dry. Then it.takes off on its first flight. Back

Fish Fish were the first backboned animals to appear on earth, and they form by far the largest group of vertebrates. Unlike the other major divisions of vertebrates, however, fish are not a natural group; instead, they are an informal collection of 4 classes that are only distantly related to one another.

Mammals Terrestrial Mammals With a lithe, muscular body, acute senses, highly evolved teeth and claws, lightning reflexes and camouflage coloration, cats are model hunters. In fact cats are the most specialized of the mammalian flesh- eaters. They are unusual in that all species appear remarkably similar: the differences between tigers and the domestic cat, for example, are surprisingly small. Cats are found throughout Eurasia, Africa, and the Americas (the domestic cat is found worldwide), from alpine heights to deserts. Many species live in forests. All except the largest cats are expert climbers, and several are excellent swimmers. Most cats are solitary

Birds Toucans The large serrated bill of the toucan is adapted for grasping and tearing fruit. It helps the bird reach fruit on the end of thin twigs that cannot support its weight. Once collected, food has to be moved from the tip of the bill into the bird's throat- a task that is achieved with a quick backward toss of the head. Toucans help disperse the seeds of some trees by eating them and passing them through their bodies, as do many other forest birds, such as parrots
