Vocabulary Quadrilateral: A polygon with 4 sides.
Consecutive angles: Two angles whose vertices are endpoints of a side. Opposite angles: Two angles that are not consecutive angles. A B D C
4
Parallelogram Characteristics of a parallelogram:
Opposite sides are parallel. Opposite sides are congruent. Opposite angles are congruent. Consecutive angles are supplements. Diagonals bisect each other.
5
Rectangle A parallelogram with four right angles.
The diagonals of a rectangle are congruent.
6
Rhombus A parallelogram in which all sides are of equal length.
The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular to each other. The diagonals of a rhombus bisect its angles.
7
Square A rectangle in which all sides are of equal length.
8
Trapezoid What is a trapezoid?
A quadrilateral in which only one pair of opposite sides are parallel.
9
Isosceles Trapezoid A trapezoid in which the nonparallel sides are equal.
