Pick up your calculator as you come into the classroom. BELL RINGER 1.What do you know about the properties of a square? 2.What is a parallelogram? 3.What is a quadrilateral? 4.What does congruent mean?
2
Properties of a square Quadrilateral Parallelogram 4 equal sides and 4 equal angles Each angle is 90 degrees (a right angle) Diagonals are equal in length and bisect 4-sided polygons (plane shapes that are formed by line segments that intersect only at the endpoints). A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides Opposite sides are parallel and equal in length Opposite angles are equal in measure
3
Congruent Sides Rhombus Sides that are the same length A quadrilateral with 4 congruent sides
4
A line segment that looks perpendicular but does not stay perpendicular when moved A point that looks like a midpoint and does not stay in the middle when dragged
6
WRAP UP What constructions were necessary to guarantee the square was “UnMessUpable”?
