2 Quadrilaterals Quadrilateral simply means “four sides”, because quad means four and lateral means side. Any four-sided 2-dimensional shape made of straight lines is a quadrilateral.

3 Properties of Quadrilaterals
Quadrilaterals have four sides (edges). Quadrilaterals have four vertices (corners). The interior angles add up to 360 degrees.

4 Defined Quadrilaterals
There are certain quadrilaterals that have been defined. We’ve assign specific properties to these types of quadrilaterals. Some of the defined quadrilaterals are parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, square, and trapezoid.

5 Rectangle The rectangle is a four-sided polygon.
Every angle measures 90 degrees (a right angle). Opposite sides are parallel. Opposite sides are equal length.

6 Rhombus The rhombus is a four-sided polygon.
All sides have equal length. Opposite sides are parallel. Opposite angles are equal. Diagonals will bisect each other at right angles.

7 Square The length of every side of a square is equal.
The measure of every angle is the same. A square is also a rectangle since all angles measure 90 degrees and opposite sides are equal and parallel. A square is also a rhombus since opposite sides are parallel and opposite angles are equal.

8 Parallelogram A parallelogram is a four-sided polygon.
Opposite sides are parallel and equal in length. Opposite angles are equal. Squares, rectangles, and rhombuses (rhombi) are all parallelograms.

9 Trapezoid A trapezoid is a four-sided polygon.
It has one pair of opposite sides parallel. A trapezoid is described as isosceles when the opposite sides that are not parallel are equal in length and angles are equal.
