SAVING LIVES Hospital Acquired Infection Group (HAIG) –Established in response to the MRSA Bacteraemia 60% reduction target (July 05) –Currently addresses all hospital acquired infections (not just MRSA) –Monthly meetings –Working sub group of the Shrewsbury & Telford infection control committee

SAVING LIVES MAY 2006 NOW 7 KEY AREAS 1.Preventing the risk of microbial contamination 2.Central venous catheter care 2b.Peripheral Line care 3.Preventing surgical site infection 4.Care of ventilated patients 5.Urinary catheter care 6.Reducing the risk of infection from and the presence of Clostridium difficile
