2 The Lakota lived in the Great Plains

3 The Lakota’s land in the Plains was made up of plains, prairies, and rolling hills.

5 The The Plains Indians lived in teepees made of buffalo hides that were held up by wooden poles. The teepees were often painted and the women were responsible for putting them up and taking them down.

6 The teepees were warm in the winter and cool in the summer
The teepees were warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The door to the teepee was a round opening which faced east toward the rising sun. There was a small fire in the middle of the teepee and it was used for cooking and to keep warm.

7 Occupation The Lakota were hunters and horsemen.

8 The Plains Indians depended on the buffalo and they used every part of it and wasted nothing.

9 The Lakota traveled by walking and riding horses.
