Solar power We have used solar power for thousands of years. We use the sun for drying clothes or making salt or other things. Solar power comes from the Sun.
3
Sun’s energy Just a tiny fraction of the sun’s energy that hits the Earth is enough to meet all our power needs many times over. We use solar panels to turn sunlight into electricity.
4
disadvantages Sunlight is all over the place so you ’ ll need lots and lots of panels to make a useful amount of energy. Only areas of the world with lots of sunlight are suitable for solar power generation.
5
disadvantages It cost lots and lots and lots of money when you are putting them up
6
advantages There is a really really good thing about solar power - it doesn't harm the atmosphere
7
advantages when they ’ re up they cost nothing, you barely need to look at them and they will last Solar power is renewable - it can ’ t run out unless the sun blows up
8
Is it the answer? It ’ s pretty unlikely that solar power is going to be the answer but you can have a little bit of lots of things. Solar power is often an excellent extra to use with other renewable sources
