4. THE CYCLE OF MATTER Biodegradable – Able to be broken down by bacteria or other living organisms. Nature returns living organisms back to the earth after they die. As the organisms decompose, the nutrients they contain are broken down and returned to the soil, where they are available to be used by future plants and animals.

5. URBAN SOLID WASTE (PROBLEMS) People generates a lot of solid waste. Nature is not able to decompose everything. Not all the solid waste we generate is biodegradable.
