The German Flag This background is the flag of Germany. The colors of the flag are based on the uniforms that the German soldiers wore during the 19 th century in the Napoleonic wars. The colors also symbolize the unification of Germany.

Facts about Germany The population as of 2010 was 81,702,329. Germany is ranked #16 with the other countries of the world.

Life Expectancy For women, the life expectancy is 82.44 years old. For men, the life expectancy is 77.82 years old. The overall life expectancy of someone living in Germany is 80.07 years. It is ranked 28 th in the world for living.

Religion The main religion of Germany is Christianity. Christians believe that there is one God. They believe in the Holy Trinity, that there is three persons in one God, including God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They believe that God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. They also believe in the 10 Commandments that God presented to Moses.

Language The major language of Germany is standard German. These are some basic phrases translated. Hello – Hallo How are you? - wie geht es dir? Please – bitte Thank you – danke Do you speak English? - Sie sprechen Englisch?

Holidays One holiday that they celebrate is Internationaler Frauentag. It is celebrated on March 8 th. It is known as Women’s Day. It is celebrated because Aleksandra Kollontai helped organize many women’s right rallys in 1911. It is celebrated by everyone treating the women like gold.

German Food Anise Drops are a very popular dessert that is made usually during Christmas time. 3 eggs, beaten 1 cup white sugar 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 tablespoon anise seed

Tourist Attractions Neuschwanstein is the top tourist attraction in Germany. It is a huge castle near Fussen. People would want to visit it because it is magnificent and very beautiful. On a regular basis, Germans attend concerts, play lots of soccer and other sports.
