Enlightenment On his spiritual journey the Buddha came across a fig tree and sat down to meditate The Buddha vowed not to leave this tree until he obtained enlightenment Enlightenment means to become awaken After many days the Buddha obtained enlightenment and was able to break the wheel of reincarnation After Gautama obtained enlightenment he travelled and taught across India Until he died around age 80
