Complaints No matter where we live, no matter what our age, people/citizens will always have complaints. Our complaints can also be considered grievances. Our founding fathers had many grievances with the King of England, King George III. Can you think back to some grievances colonists had while under the authority of the British Crown?

Break-Up Letter What complaints or grievances do we see in this letter? How does Jessica feel? How do you think Julius will feel once he reads the letter? How could he respond? (What are some things he can do to make amends (good relationship)

These Grievances are located in the Declaration of Independence
What is the Declaration of Independence? Document from the colonies that declare their Independence from Great Britain (breaking ties with them). When was it written? July 4, 1776 (This is why Americans celebrate July 4th!!) Who helped write it? Our Founding Fathers

Patriots Colonists who supported breaking away from England (King George). A book called Common Sense written by Thomas Paine influenced the Patriots. It changed the way people thought in the colonies.
