1. Georgia OKeeffe Oil Pastel Flowers

2. Born November 15 th 1887 in Wisconsin In 8 th grade she knew she wanted to be an artist.

3. A friend of Georgias took 10 of her drawings to a very well known gallery, 291. She showed these drawings to Alfred Steglitz, the owner. He displayed the 10 drawings without her permission.

4. She later married Steglitz Her art was an immediate response to her environment. Well-known for flowers and desert paintings. She was fascinated by the inner workings of the flowers.

5. Monumental Nobody sees a flower really, it is so small, we havent the time, and to see it takes time, so Ill paint what I see, Ill paint it big and they will be surprised into taking the time to look at it. (OKeeffe)

6. She spent her summers in New Mexico painting the desert. Later in her life she began to lose her eye sight and gave up painting. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1986.

7. She also visited Ghost Ranch in New Mexico which became another subject for her paintings. Georgia OKeeffe died in 1986, at the age of 98.
