+ Level 0 – Non-Use Technology unavailable or unused in the classroom Text based: Overhead projector Dry Erase Board Teacher perceived “lack of time” for use of technology

+ Level 1 -- Awareness Classroom management Email, word processing, grade book/attendance Embellish teacher-directed lessons or lectures PowerPoint presentation by teacher One step removed from classroom/teacher Integrated Learning Systems (ILS) Success Maker, Plato, Study Island Technology as “reward” after work complete

+ Level 2 -- Exploration Blooms--knowledge, comprehension, application Supplements the existing curriculum Student created: PowerPoint—informational Internet “research and report” Informational web pages Employed as Extension, enrichment, reinforcement activities May not complement instruction

+ Level 3 -- Infusion Blooms—analysis, synthesis, evaluation Problem solving, decision making, experimentation, scientific inquiry Students use technology to analyze data, make inferences, draw conclusions WebQuests, concept mapping (Inspiration) Spreadsheet/databases to analyze data Simulation software/websites Oregon Trail or Lemonade Stand Technology complements instruction

+ Level 4 -- Integration Teachers designed, student-centered learning experiences Student choice and decision making Students plan, implement and evaluate their work Emphasis on: Solving authentic problems In-depth examination of content Student collaboration Higher level cognitive processes

+ Level 5 -- Expansion Collaborative learning experiences involve: Other schools, businesses, governmental agencies, research institutions Expand student experiences directed at: Problem solving Issue resolution Student activism

+ Level 6 – Refinement Students/teachers have ready access to a vast array of technology based tools to accomplish any task at school. Learner-based curriculum Constructivist
