15 Cambridge Sub-Region Transport Infrastructure Cambridge -Rapid Transit, Chesterton Station, improved road, cycle and pedestrian access to new developments. Safer travel and disabled access. Green Belt – local improvements for cycle, bus and pedestrian access RT access from City Centre to Trumpington, Addenbrooke’s and Airport Access road, Hauxton Road to Clay Farm & Addenbrooke’s Access road to A14 from Airport, pus other access roads New Settlement –RT & cycle route to Cambridge and St Ives/ Huntingdon, improved road access to A14, plus parallel roads. Market Towns, Rural Centres - local transport improvements from Market Town Strategies, improved links to Cambridge on key corridors

16 Delivering the Strategy Early Start Essential, speed up Planning Process- with Districts and others Government Role with Funding (LTP, HA, SRA) and Private Sector –Bid for Rapid Transit submitted by County Council Stakeholder Partnering, working with other service and Infrastructure Providers Encouraging a further Shift of Mode Winning Hearts & Minds

17 Local Transport Plan Review in 2003, following - CHUMMS - Draft Structure Plan Will include key proposals - Rapid Transit - A14 highway schemes - Key Corridors- Rail, RT, Bus & Highway - A428 and other Trunk Road Schemes - Bus priorities and service improvements, Interchanges - Rail Schemes, e.g Chesterton Station - Cycling and Walking Schemes - New local highway schemes for development and safety

Southern Fringe Master Planning

21 Message for “Futures” Support the Development Strategy Developments will contain housing for essential workers Transport Infrastructure is key but, - Recognise need for Change of Attitudes towards the Car - Recognise need for Deliverability - Recognise Realism of Likely Investment Levels
