PI Certification Update First three-year renewal for PI Certification Program approaching soon Team comprised of Cris Boggs, Bettie McGowan- Hudson, Kristin LaRoche and Roberta Elrod Goal – to have updated PI Certification available in October 2011

PI Certification Update (cont’d) Adding new modules for reporting, copyrights, export control, intellectual property and conflict of interest How it will work: o As individual’s certification anniversary date approaches, he/she will receive three e-mail reminders over 8-week period o Fourth e-mail will be final reminder, notifying him/her that certification has expired o Report will be generated nightly & e-mailed to College & OSP Grant Coordinators/Administrators listing individuals whose certification has expired

SPAA Name Changed to GCA and Cost Sharing: 129XXXX and 149XXXX -Roberta Elrod, Grants & Contracts Administration (GCA)

SPAA Name Changed to GCA Sponsored Programs Accounting & Administration (SPAA) formerly reported to Comptroller and was part of the Division of Financial Affairs Effective July 1, 2011, SPAA began reporting to the Vice President for Research and became part of the Division of Research Department name changed to Grants & Contracts Administration (GCA) effective July 13, 2011

Cost Sharing: 129XXXX and 149XXXX Change in allocation of research infrastructure support (F&A – indirect return) funding to funds 12 and 14 effective 7/1/11 has prompted change in assigning companion cost share project numbers Cost sharing provided by research infrastructure support will now be set up as follows: o 129XXXX projects for PSA o 149XXXX projects for E&G Cost sharing provided by faculty release time will still be documented in 159XXXX projects

Cost Sharing: 129XXXX and 149XXXX (cont’d) Fiscal managers in Grants & Contracts Administration will request the specific cost share fund group from the college contact in the e-mail award notification If/when a 159XXXX project is no longer needed, college contacts should notify appropriate fiscal manager in GCA

Supplemental Funding for Existing Sponsored Projects -Stephanie Duncan, Grants & Contracts Administration (GCA)

Supplemental Funding for Existing Sponsored Projects Effective immediately sponsored projects receiving supplemental funding with a different F&A rate from the primary award will be assigned a new project number Example: o NSF funded project with 48.5% MTDC F&A rate receives REU supplemental funding with a rate of 25% of participant support stipend. A new project number will now be assigned to the REU supplement rather than one project number being assigned to both blocks of funding with an effective F&A rate
