Banking: Deposits and Withdrawals Making Deposits: Adding Money to a Bank Account (Example: If you have $20 dollars and you make a deposit of $10 you will now have a balance of $30 in your account {$20 + $10 = $30}.) By making deposits into an account you are adding money and the sum of money, or the balance, in your account will grow with each deposit you make.

Making Withdrawals: Taking Money or Subtracting from a Bank Account When you make a withdrawal from your account you are subtracting money from your balance. You are decreasing the amount of money in your account. (Example: If you have $50 in your bank account and you want to take $20 out, you are wanting to subtract money. You will be left with the difference of $30 as your new balance {$50 - $20 = $30}.)
