Tuesday We’ll begin to read “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” today! HOMEWORK: Your Dickinson-ian poem is due tomorrow. Finish the short story, too. Get some work done on sources for the social issue you’ve selected. March 15, 2011

Wednesday After we talk some about the Twain story, we’ll get started on a Bret Harte story, also set in Northern California, “The Outcasts of Poker Flat.” HOMEWORK: Finish the short story & go over questions 1 – 5, 9 on page 485 to prepare for the quiz Thursday. March 16, 2011

Thursday After our quiz over “The Outcasts of Poker Flat,” we’ll get started on Jack London’s story “To Build A Fire,” set in the Yukon in early 1900’s. HOMEWORK: Your proposal sheet & deadline signatures are due tomorrow. Got good sources identified?! March 17, 2011

Friday After we talk some about the research project, you’ll have more time to read the Jack London story. HOMEWORK: Finish the London story and complete the “Selection Test” handout. It’s due Monday. March 18, 2011
