fur 1. Colonists wanted fur from the Native Americans finished goods 2. Native Americans wanted finished goods from the colonists (tools and weapons) Huron Algonquian Iroquois League 3. French colonists allied with the Huron and Algonquian; British colonists allied with the Iroquois League.

Canada Appalachian Mountains Florida 1. British got Canada and all land east of the Appalachian Mountains from France, and Florida from Spain. North America. 2. France lost all of its land in North America. Spain 3. Changed the balance of power in North America; Spain was now England’s only competition in the Americas. taxing 4. The war was VERY expensive – British Parliament decided to begin taxing the colonists to pay for the war.

Appalachian 1. Settlers began to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. 2. Pontiac’s Rebellion- Chief Pontiac of the Ottawa joined with Miami, Huron, Shawnee, and Delaware against the British – tried to drive out settlers and give up European practices. Rebellion failed, Pontiac surrendered but remained an important leader.

Proclamation1763 west Appalachian 3. As a result of Pontiac’s rebellion, the British government passed the Proclamation of 1763 which banned any further settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains creating a line between colonial and Indian lands. a. All people already there were told to move. b. It was too difficult to enforce. ignored c. The colonists ignored it. d. Showed that the British and the colonists disagreed over what was best for the colonies.

Hey! What’s the BIG IDEA? The French and Indian war changed the balance of power in North America by driving out the French. England began taxing to the colonists to pay for the war.
