Better Care Better Health Better Life Communications Shared Services Outlined in Transition letter (Dec 10): –Focus on a higher quality, better value, sustainable communications and engagement services –May lead to a single arm’s length NHS communications and engagement organisation This approach will ensure: –Professional, stable and flexible communications and engagement –Consolidated expertise –Assure delivery of core communications and engagement (current capacity risks) –Drive up quality and manage cost down Exploring operating through ‘hub’ and spoke’ model with: –Hub, a central link between GPCC and NCB –Spoke, reflecting the local community needs and style In the North West: –Detailed ideas / solutions now being developed –Linked with clustering of PCTs to ensure appropriate resources in place –Focussed engagement with stakeholders planned –HR & financial issues currently being explored

Top 3 North West organisations: –St. Helens & Knowsley Hospitals NHS Trust 90% –Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust 85% –NHS Manchester 71% ESR ESR Swap Shop event to be held on 6 th April 2011 25 Organisations have secured funding to support ESR & NLMS

Better Care Better Health Better Life Strategic HR & Workforce Update Health & Wellbeing OH reconfiguration conference took place on 14 th March Resulting actions included: –To ensure the issue is placed on both CE and DoF agendas and that sign up is achieved at QIPP/Cluster level –To ensure progress at local level is set out and monitored through QIPP Workforce Plans –To facilitate the development of a workforce strategy for the Occupational Health Services in the NW –To facilitate a project to examine the current IT constraints and opportunities for reconfiguration

Better Care Better Health Better Life Strategic HR & Workforce Update 6 NW HR Graduates will complete scheme in August and will soon be looking for roles in the NW HR Student conference & awards -14 th July 2011, nomination forms will be circulated soon! HR Consultancy Skills for Business Partners development programme to run in May/June for all NW HRBPs Deputy Director & OD Leads programme has been circulated to HRDs for nominations/booking HRD Conference to be held 7 th -8 th December 2011
