Session Three

2 Learning Objectives By the end of this session you will:
identify personal strengths create an action plan to develop personal strengths understand Ocado’s values understand how your actions can affect internal and external customers

3 Self-esteem Self-esteem is the degree to which you value and appreciate yourself, it's your self worth. People's perceptions of you as an individual will be based on what you think about yourself and how you behave.

4 Self-esteem People with high self esteem generally have a positive mental attitude, have high self worth and are confident in their abilities and who they are. People with low self esteem generally have a negative mental attitude, put themselves down, criticise themselves and their abilities.

5 Personal Strengths It’s important to know what are your personal strengths To give you self confidence To help you to identify what kind of work would suit you To be able to “sell” yourself to possible employers.

6 Personal Achievements
But I haven’t really achieved anything….

7 Personal Achievements
Achievements are things you’ve done that you are proud of and can include: Arranging events Awards from work or school Raising children or caring for others Sports achievements Having many friends Playing a musical instrument Passing your driving test Dealing with a difficult time or situation

8 Achievements – Skills and Strengths
I set up a fund raising stall for children in need and got help from family and friends who baked cakes and sweets so that I raised a total of £250. Shows: Initiative Motivation Communication Team player Customer focus Knowledge of finances.

9 Achievements – Skills and Strengths
Each morning I get my three children up, dressed, fed and ensure they have everything they need for school. Then I drop them off on time at two different schools. Shows: Planning and organising Timekeeping and meeting deadlines Adaptability/flexibility Resilience Persuading and influencing

10 Achievements – Skills and Strengths
When learning to drive I was passed from instructor to instructor and had countless lessons and tests. After 8 years of trying I passed my driving test. Shows: Commitment Motivation Adaptability/flexibility Resilience

11 Transferable Skills Transferable skills are things that you can do that can be applied in different situations and circumstances. Showing motivation to achieve your personal goal of learning to drive shows an employer that you have a positive attitude and can set and achieve goals.

12 Action Plan What do you want to achieve?
To get up early on weekdays and job search How will you achieve it? Set my alarm for 8:30. Go to the jobcentre and hand out CVs in town. What support do you need? My family – to help me keep motivated What is a reasonable deadline? To begin next week

13 We’re in it together Teamwork is what makes us greater than the sum of our parts. By being able to depend on one another, we can transform what we do from something good to something great.

14 Value each person We will look out for each other, and remember that every individual is important, whether they’re a customer or an Ocado team member. Our willingness to be different means your opinion will always count.

15 Love what we do Each one of us can make a big difference to what we achieve by going the extra mile. If we all care passionately and put every effort into what we do, we can make incredible things happen.

16 We can be even better Never settle for the way things are. By being proactive and finding better, smarter ways of doing things, we can all have a huge impact on the way we work. Let’s all promise that “it’ll do” will never do.
