Olympic Games 2014 The ceremony of opening of the XXII Winter Olympic games in Sochi took place on February 7.

The winter Olympic Games 2014 — the international sporting event which will take place in the Russian city of Sochi from February 7 to February 23, The capital of the Olympic games of Sochi 2014 was chosen during the 119th IOC session in the city of Guatemala, the capital of Guatemala on July 4, In the territory of Russia the Olympic Games will take place for the second time (before in Moscow in 1980 passed the XXII summer Olympic Games), and for the first time — winter Games. Upon termination of the Olympic Games on the same objects the winter Paralympic Games 2014 will be held the Organizing committee "Sochi 2014" is engaged in the organization of the winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On March 1, president of the IOC Jacques Rogge gave the Olympic flag to the closing ceremonies of the winter Olympic Games to the mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov. In three months before Jacques Rogge presented the Sochi logo In 2011 mascots of the winter Olympic Games 2014 chose the White bear, a snow Leopard and Hare. In 500 days prior to the Olympic Games the Organizing committee "Sochi 2014" announced a slogan of the forthcoming Olympic Games: "Hot. Winter. Yours".

Medals On May 30, 2013 in St. Petersburg in the presence of the President of the IOC Jacques Rogge the design of medals of the Winter Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games in Sochi was published. In total about 1300 awards that is a record indicator for the Winter Olympic Games will be made. Each medal on the face will have images of the Olympic rings, on the back in English the type of the competitive Olympic program will be cast, and also the official Sochi-2014 logo is represented. The weight of each medal will fluctuate from 460 to 531 grams. Paralympic medals will weigh from 585 to 686 grams. Production of the Olympic awards is entrusted to the Adamas company . Under the certificate of authors of a concept of design of these medals they bear innovation and follow the Russian traditions.
