What does identify mean? Activate (or provide) Prior Knowledge When a noun (person, place, or thing) is singular, it names only one thing. When a noun (person, place, or thing) is plural, it names more than one thing. Which noun is singular? Which noun is plural? 1.a. lizards b. lizard 2.a. pencil b. pencils A verb is an _________________________. Which word in the sentence is a verb? 3. The dog chased the cat. 4. You also know that a verb is an action word. Subject-Verb Agreement Rule: The subject and verb must always match in number. Not examples of subject-verb agreement: The boys plays with the dog. The boy play with the dog. It is important to identify subjects and verbs that are in agreement because: 1. identifying subjects and verbs that are in agreement will help you speak and write correctly. 2. identifying subjects and verbs that are in agreement will help you do well on tests.
